"If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will—to your surprise—miss them profoundly."
-Pres. Thomas S. Monson

Week 42

In case you were wondering, this is what "no hour requirement" looks like:

We had to demo several huge sections of concrete and repour it in order to pass inspection. Dallas spent nearly every night at the houses, but at least it was only one of us for the most part.

We can say it is officially official though- the office sent out the announcement! We'd love to see everyone there!

Happy 6th Annie Kate!

Annie's 6th birthday was a bike extravaganzaa!  Annie helped me plan it and we decided on a Bike town.  The kids all came and there were different shops they could go to- a snow shack, an bike wash, a prize store, a post office, and a snack station.  It was planning and setting up beforehand, but when the kids arrived they could ride around and play all on their own (which was great because there were 18 kids riding around).  It was such a fun party!  Our apartment was the perfect place to do it because of the big parking lot out back.  To pull it off I had lots of helpers: Sariah Perkins, Ann Balls, and Grandma Kaiserman were my extra hands in manning the different stations and I was so appreciative of their help.

Annie is the sweetest girl.  So spunky and full of life!  Annie is the life of the party, lives passionately, and is tender and sensitive all at the same time.  She definitely puts the spark in our family!

Wasatch Back 2015

Ragnar was this past weekend and I set off on a 200 mile journey with 12 of my favorite people.

It was hot.
It was long.
It was so so hard.
IT WAS ALL WORTH IT.

I watched people push themselves further and harder than they ever thought possible. We cried from laughter, pride, fear, and exhaustion. Together, in just under 35 hours, we ran from Logan to Soldier Hollow in Midway, and we did it by leaning on each other. Ragnar isn't about the finish line, it's about the journey.

Van 1 Runners! Mindy Kohler, Connie Lyons, Katie Cummings, Katie Nelson, Cathy Kendall and Audra Thomas. This van was worked over! After coming down Avon Pass, Katie Cummings sprained her ankle and had to leave the race, and then  Connie got really sick. They were scrambling to fill legs left and right and were troopers through it all!

Jenna Baker pushed her way to the top of Snow Basin- a 7.5 mile brutal climb- and showed up to the exchange ten minutes faster than we expected!

Here I am before my last leg. See that mountain I'm pointing to? I ran to the top of it. 10 miles, 2800 feet, and I did it in just under 2 hours and 9th place in my division. I was so afraid of it that I never slept, and I bawled to Dallas the hour before I ran it. It feels good to prove to yourself that you can do hard things. REALLY hard things!

Van 2 runners! Breona Carter, Jenn Jackman, me, Jenn Robinson, Jenna Baker, and Laurel Hansen.

Ragnar chewed us up and spit us out this year, but we did it!

Week 41

WE HAD FINAL INSPECTION THIS WEEK. We failed, (ha! Of course), but at least we are to that point. Plus our fix list was small and nit-picky.

Dexter's house passed, and I'm sure that ours will pass next week after we reschedule. We knew that we would fail because the plumber realized that they had delivered the wrong water heater to 9 of the houses. We had to wait for new ones to be ordered and then reinstalled.

I ran Ragnar this week, and Dallas sent me one of the best text messages ever on Saturday. It said: "No hour requirement next week. We're done!" Best news ever! I may or may not have bawled like a baby.

Open House is still scheduled for July 2nd and we have to be out of the apartment by July 10. It will be a mad dash to get it all done with our 4th of July trip to Afton in the middle of it all. No complaints here though- that is the best kind of problem to have!

In under 2 weeks I will be making dinner here every night!

Week 40

Our move in date is still up for debate. Things are getting stressful now that we have a deadline to be out of our apartment- July 10. Things are looking like the very beginning of July. I'm just hoping we don't have to move into Grandma's and store all our stuff in random places. It's especially frustrating because our house will be done, we just can't move into it because of the open house. A lot of what needs to be done is sub contractor work- if only they would show up and get it done. Besides cleaning, we are really running out of stuff to do. The next couple of weeks could be interesting.

The finishing touches are making everything look so nice. I love our house!

Week 39-- SOD!

FINALLY the flooring guys came and we have been able to get hard at work on the last three houses. I finished all the paint at the Monson's and it feels great to be done! Each piece of blue tape was a check off the list.

We have started the sod adventure! Ours was the first house to get finished and it has transformed it from a construction site to a home. It will take almost a week to get the sod layed in all of the houses.

I also got to build our back stairs! They went together perfectly!

Week 38

Our yard is taking shape! Dallas got all of the trees planted on Memorial Day while I ran a race with the kids (best husband ever!). Now we will get ready for curbing and plant our flower beds. Look at this beautiful bunch of plants!

These dahlias that I picked are my very favorite! Here's hoping I can keep them alive!

Kalie came up to help me work on Friday! Not only did she slave away as we got ready for gravel and layed out my flower bed, but she also brought us dinner! We are blessed with such great people in our lives. We have been so blessed by the hours and hours of service that people have given us.
